Abstract

A maximum efficiency point tracking technique of tuning the DC link voltage is proposed in this paper to improve the efficiency under various load condition of two-stage server power supply. This technique for seeking the most suitable operating point and the maximum efficiency in respect of the operating conditions. The maximum efficiency point tracking (MEPT) technique is based on perturbation and observation method to adjust DC link voltage to give maximum efficiency. The proposed technique is realized in software using DSP. Test results derived from a digital-controlled server power supply show that maximum efficiency can be tracked by tuning DC link voltage. These measured results fully support the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
