Evaluating partitioning techniques for main memory database: Horizontal and single vertical

Abstract

Performance of the two partitioning techniques, horizontal partitioning and single vertical, is evaluated in the context of a main memory database in terms of memory space and execution time. Issues in systems architecture related to cost assessments are addressed, quantitative results are obtained.
