Abstract

This article discusses a previously published paper entitled “Factors influencing medical tourism adoption in Malaysia: A DEMATEL-Fuzzy TOPSIS approach” by Nilashi et al. (2019). In that work, the authors discussed the factors that affect medical tourism in Malaysia, using the DEMATEL method to explore the influence relationships among the factors and fuzzy TOPSIS to determine the importance ranking of the factors. However, there are some errors and incorrect fuzzy TOPSIS calculation formulas described in their paper. Furthermore, the applicability of the TOPSIS method to this problem is misguided. Although the authors provide interesting management implications and suggestions, the results of the analysis of the real case with fuzzy TOPSIS is incorrect.
